When he was 16, Scott was the only member of his family to join the LDS Church. He knew at the time that he was bisexual and that, at some point, it would become an issue, but was baptized anyway, because he knew his sexuality didn’t effect whether or not the Church was true. He was well received when he came out and has chosen to stay within the LDS church despite having some contradicting beliefs and values, because he hopes to make a difference for the LDS/LGBT population within the Church. Through his own experiences and research, he has come to understand that God made him this way for a reason and that, at some point, we will, as a church, receive greater revelation concerning LGBT people. In the meantime, he plans to continue to pursue a healthy balance between his spirituality and his romantic life, which includes being both active in the LDS community and also pursuing romantic relationships with men.
