Growing up in the LDS church has given Jacob a real and deep-seated faith. But after finishing grad school, Jacob could no longer avoid the same-sex attraction he’s felt since childhood. Afraid of being told by ecclesiastical leaders that his faith simply wasn’t “strong enough” to eliminate feelings of homosexuality, Jacob turned to logic, research, and his personal faith to understand himself, his place within his faith community, and his future. Jacob attends church meetings regularly, but he admits to becoming increasingly frustrated both religiously and emotionally. However he can neither deny his faith nor his homosexuality.
