Far Between is an on-going dialogue about what it means to be LGBTQIA/SSA and Mormon. Our vision is to help improve the quality of the conversations we all have about this sensitive issue. This project depicts all the voices, side-by-side, that tell the whole story of what it’s like to live with conflicts between religion and sexual orientation or gender identity. We hope this collection of voices helps change the conversation by depicting more accurate and open portrayals of what it’s really like to be LGBT and Mormon – ultimately helping us all to respond to one another with more empathy and compassion. We hope you will listen to the stories and read the posts and join the conversation. This website is just one part of the over-all project. The Far Between documentary film will be finished in 2015 and in theaters soon thereafter – stay tuned.
A word about the title: Far Between is a reference to what feels like an enormous gulf between the experience of homosexuality and Mormonism. It is also an invitation to help fill that gulf with love and empathy born of intimate storytelling, accurate information, and compassionate communication.
