Eric didn’t recognize the “dead weight” he was carrying around with him before he came out, just over a year ago. In this interview, he takes us through the Sunday that lead him to him coming out to a counselor in his Stake presidency and his parents both in one day. He speaks fondly of the “sweet conversation” he had with his father and mother and the priesthood blessing offered by that counselor, during which he felt, for the first time, as if he was able to accept himself. Today he’s “never felt happier.” He is active in his ward, holds a calling and continues to maintain strong relationships with his friends.
